Homeland Security Conference on Critical Infrastructure - 02/25/2025 - 02/27/2025 - Atlanta Convention Center, Atlanta, GA
The AFCEA Atlanta Chapter presents the next Homeland Security Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. In addition to a technical program of unsurpassed scope and quality, AFCEA provides the central meeting place for government, academia, and industry working in all disciplines in industry, service, government, military and academic sectors.Today's infrastructure is connected to many other infrastructure assets, systems, and networks for normal day-to-day operations. These connections may be geographically limited or dispersed over great distances. The many points of infrastructure connections and their geographic distribution can make the infrastructure environment much more complex. This conference supports the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) which works to strengthen critical infrastructure security and resilience by generating greater understanding and action across a partnership landscape. This is achieved by working with private and public infrastructure stakeholders to resolve infrastructure security and resilience knowledge gaps, inform infrastructure risk management decisions, identify resilience-building opportunities and strategies, and improve information sharing among stakeholders through a collaborative partnership approach. The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) leads the effort to enhance the resilience of the nation's physical and cyber infrastructure by bringing resources to your fingertips. Only working together can we defend against today's threats and collaborate to build secure and resilient infrastructure for the future.Attendees are also invited to participate in a coordinated cybersecurity preparedness exercise to assess how events impacting critical infrastructure are handled. This was inspired by the JACK VOLTAIC exercises led by the Army Cyber Institute. Scenarios are being designed to help identify and address gaps and interdependencies bringing together numerous entities responsible for critical infrastructure shared among many constituencies. This exercise is developed around areas of interest suggested by the participants, and is focused on gaining key insights into how multiple levels of industry and government respond to events impacting critical infrastructure and what impact that might have. The tabletop exercise will include a series of "turns" enabling participants to practice a response.

The Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) first began its journey back in 2019. After long delays, lack of formal communications by the U.S. Government, and overall fatigue by industry on the topic of CMMC, many businesses remain unready to meet contractual obligations as defined by the FAR and DFARS. As of August 2024, the CMMC rule has now been fully vetted by the U.S. Government and is slated for adoption in CFR 32 and 48 this October. While many conferences on CMMC have taken place in Washington, D.C., Huntsville, and other cities, this is the first CMMC event in Atlanta where the head of the Cyber Accreditation Body, Matt Travis will be the featured speaker. Do not miss this opportunity! Come and listen to Mr. Travis speak about the new rule and meet your fellow GovCons over appetizers and drinks (included with registration fee) at SoundWay's new facility in downtown Atlanta.
